The 7th International RFA Training Program Officially Begins!
Today, at 2:30 PM, the 7th International IVO (RFA & MWA)Training Program started.
This time, a total of 20 participant doctors came to train in our department: 10 from Taiwan,4 from China, 1 from The Philippines, 1 from Thailand, 2 from Hong Kong and 1 from Germany. Participants were given a very warm welcome by Dr. Shiina leading with a course introduction. He raised excitement and curiosity among the participants by explaining the program’s objectives and by giving an insight of the upcoming activities and cases planned for the next day’s live demonstrations.
A pre-test was also done to determine the participants’ present knowledge on RFA and MWA and determine which topics should be focused on.
Afterwards, everyone moved to the IVO room and planning for the RFA and MWA cases scheduled for the next day was done. Three cases were presented to the participants and they were given a chance to locate the target tumor through ultrasound and contribute their suggestions for the final plan of each case.
Then Dr. Yoshinari Asaoka from Teikyo University gave a lecture on Indications and complications of IVO (RFA & MWA).
A lot of questions were already raised during the first day, showing the interest that the participants have for the field. Extensive discussions like these would surely make the program a big learning experience for everyone.
